Announced last week during Nintendo Direct Japan, Sega is bringing the Yakuza 1&2 HD Collection to the Wii U.

The set will feature the first 2 Yakuza games with all the upgrades done on the PS3 version along with the ability to play the game on the gamepad and see the maps on the gamepad. The Yakuza games have been released overseas as well so a North America or Europe release might be possible.

Yakuza 1&2 HD collection will be released by Sega in Japan for the Wii U in 2013. No international release has been announced. The PS3 version is available now in Japan.

Today, Nintendo announced on Nintendo Direct that the latest Sonic game Sonic: Lost World will be exclusive to Nintendo Consoles.

this is good news to people like me since if you ever played a Sonic game in the last 10 years the trend seems to be the best games are on Nintendo Consoles. Sonic Advance, Sonic: Dark BrotherHood, Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations 3DS version, Sonic Rush. Anything cross platform: Sonic Unleashed, Sonic 2006, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Generations seems to be way below quality. Let’s hope this keeps the trend of great Sonic games on Nintendo when the game is released.

I love Sonic The Hedgehog. I own the SatAM series on DVD, the original games on Genesis and I even own many of the Archie Comics series so I am happy as a clam that this is not just some throwaway port like the GBA version.

The 3DS verison will contain additions like the spin dash from Sonic 2, the ability to switch the audio from the Model 1 Genesis to the Model 2 Genesis, the ability to add a filter to make your screen look like an old school TV, save states, the ability to choose between the international and Japanese version as well as having the ability to set the style of 3D.

The game releases next week in Japan for 600 yen and no international release has been announced yet.

Oh and go beyond the break because guess what? WE GOT SCREENSHOTS!

Anyhow, Famitsu announced a brand new Hatsune Miku game called Project Mirai 2. No information is available at this time except that it will be on Nintendo 3DS. Sega also stated recently that they would like to bring the games to the West if they got enough fan reaction.

Don’t forget to check in tomorrow morning as I lose my mind updating the site in real time watching Nintendo Direct.

Yup.

Today, Sega officially canceled Aliens: Colonial Marines on the Wii U. This comes after the game missed it’s end of march release window. No word if this will lead to layoffs for the ports developer Demiurge Studios but considering how bad it’s been for other companies this week, I would not be surprised.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The review for the game is on Geimaku’s review section if you wanna see how bad the game was.

On Twitter french journalist Sebstian-Abdelhamid stated that Yu Suzuki stated that he would like to do a kickstarter style fund raiser to raise money to make Shenmue 3. He also said Suzuki would like to see the story of Shenmue continued in anime and manga form. I would call bull but the man is part of the Monaco Anime Game Show and French TV so maybe this is true. I can also say that using Kickstarter is a great idea to raise money to make your games these days. We’ll have more on this story as it develops.

Aliens Colonial Marines is yet another in the line of fluctuating Sega successes and I do not know who to blame for this. Do I blame Gearbox, who were the main developer? Do I blame Trip Mine Entertainment, who made the single player? Do I blame Sega, who I cannot find did anything except delay the game? I have no clue, but all I know is I can say this game is riddled with good ideas and bad decisions.
