One could argue that Eevee is the perfect starter pokémon, since it can evolve to a myriad of elemental forms and even its normal, cute form can be strong, as noted in an episode from the first season of the anime.

As Pokémon X-Y draws near, more entries to the Pokédex are gradually revealed. One of them is Sylveon (Ninfia in Japan): a new evolution to Eevee. Its appearance sure raises up some questions…

Its type and ability haven’t been revealed yet, but by looking at the previous evolutions, it’s quite possible that Sylveon won’t have the same powers as the other forms. Were not for Espeon, I’d swear that Sylveon is Psychic. Maybe it’s a Dragon or Flying type?

These attacks just scream “Normal-type” to me, even though they can all be learned by Eevee. Maybe the fact that Eevee is Normal doesn’t necessarily mean that it can’t have one improved Normal evolution, hm?

The suspicions about it not being a “true” evolution of Eevee have melted, as the official english name contains the “-eon” just like Vaporeon and Flareon.

Anyway, you will be able to see it in action along with all the eeveelutions in Pikachu and Eevee Friends, a Pikachu Short that will air in Japan in July 13, the premiere of the next Pokémovie Extreme Speed Genesect: Mewtwo’s Awakening.

Check out the gallery to see all of Eevee’s transformations, a comic with Sylveon’s possible types (via NeoGAF) and a scan of CoroCoro Magazine where it was first revealed. (Props for Serebii.net)

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are set for release on October, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
